![]() First of all...Happy Mother's Day to moms everywhere, and especially my own! And yes, Maggie and Teddy gave me a shout out on Mother's Day (as they always do) with a card and some gift card swag. In case you're wondering...yes, I'm sure they do it all on their own with no help from my husband. ![]() And now I know it must be spring...Bluebirds! We have a couple of bluebird boxes in our backyard, and one of them is inhabited by bluebirds, while the second one is inhabited by tree swallows (not bluebirds, but nice, bug-eating birds, so they are welcome). This picture was taken eight days ago, and they had just hatched. I checked on them again yesterday, and the survivors have started to get some feathers. Unfortunately, the little chick in the center of this photo that is trying to get out of its shell didn't make it, and the other egg never hatched. The bluebirds seem to take it in stride, as they have cleaned out the nest for the remaining chicks and are working away bringing food back to the box all day. We're trying to be supportive, as we supply meal worms a couple of times a day. You can tell I really like to have these birds on our property because I actually use the live meal worms, which means I shudder every time I open the container to pour them in the feeder. Nothing says "I care" like live meal worms. Another sure sign of spring is an acceptance notice from the Westerville Music and Arts Festival. So, I will be participating in that festival again this summer. It's the second weekend in July....the 12th and 13th , I believe. I'll have more on that later, but I hope you will put it on your calendar and plan to come by!
